Tommy’s Thursday Bake

After a sporadic few baking weeks (I need to catch up with things!) we had Tommy bake for us today (Thursday) and get us back on track.

He brought us yummy looking Rocky Road/Tiffin blocks of goodness:

Thank you Tommy, looking forward to trying them out!

That also means the end of this bake Wednesday cycle - next Wednesday we start afresh!

Patisserie Valerie

We love Valerie’s turn to bake, because she always brings staaaacks of baked goods. She told us:

From left to right on the table next to my desk so I can keep an eye on who is eating what and how many:

-          Petites Madeleines

-          Palets Bretons

-          Biscuits aux amandes et zest de citron poudres de chocholat blanc

She’s so good to us.

I currently have a mouthful of biscuity-madeleiney-bretony goodness. Thanks Valerie!

First bake of the year

Happy new year bakers! The first bake of the year came from Joe, div head, who brought us mega delicious banana bread made with buttermilk. Squidgy and yummy, the bananas are definitely one of my 5 a day… and one of the guys asked if there was rum in it, so it’s potentially a boozy bake! Winner.

Thanks Joe!

Vlad’s first bake

This week, we had Vlad baking for us - his first Bake Wednesday. After doing the typical new-guy-at-work thing, and playing down his baking skills, he brought us chocolate muffins and “something made out of pastry and apples”. Excellent breakfast, one of my five a day!

Thanks Vlad!

Christmas themed or just an excuse to bake with alcohol…?

Last week (yes, I’m a week late, I was ill last week) we had Steve baking for us. I can’t remember if this is Steve’s first or second bake, but he didn’t disappoint - he made us spiced rum chocolate brownies.

Now, you all know where I stand on booze in breakfast treats (big fan.. big big fan), so these were delicious, right up my street. Even more so if you follow Steve’s advice:

Feel free to heat them up in the microwave and make them gooey, as nature intended.

Yum, thanks Steve!

Matt’s extravagant bake

This Wednesday we had Matt G baking for us. I’ll let him tell the story…

Yea I could have baked Black Forest gâteau, some fancy flavoursome cheesecake, or even Christmas pudding… but no, I wanted to do something special, something that brings back memories of times gone by, and makes everyone feel all warm and gooey inside on this snowy winters morning…

After hours spent slaving away in the kitchen last night, attempting and re-attempting to produce such a delicate and complex dish, I managed to pull it out the bag.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you…. RICE CRISPY CAKES!

But not just one kind of rice crispy cake, not even two kinds… but THREE kinds!

White, milk and dark chocolate!

God I’m good!

So there y’go. Extra props to Matt for giving me a double-breakfast - rice crispy cakes *and* he gave me cereal. Much love.

Thanks Matt!
